Pinewood Derby Workshop

Today was Pack 100's Pinewood Derby Workshop. Boys and their families picked up their derby car kits and thanks to our great volunteers - they were able to design, cut out and sand down their cars.

Anyone who did not receive a car kit can pick one up at the Pack Meeting on December 14th, or at one of the Den Meetings in January.

Please remember that you MUST check-in on the evening of January 23rd. ALL CARS MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE CHECK-IN.
The Pinewood Derby Race will be held during the January Pack Meeting on Saturday, January 24th. We look forward to seeing everyone's car and having a great time.

Remember - do your best and congratulate the rest!

Webelos and the Firemen

The Webelos Is went to visit the men at Firestation 2 last Sunday. They got the opportunity to go over the first aid requirements for their Readyman Activity Badge. We want to give a great big thanks to the men for taking the time to let us and the Wolf den visit.

A special visit

We want to thank Mr. Randy Burger for visiting with the pack at this past Pack Meeting. The boys were fascinated to hear about life as a SeaBee in the Navy. He was gracious enough to bring along some of his gear to let the boys see and touch as well. We wish him and his wife the best as he goes for his third tour in Iraq in December.

Yellow River Game Ranch

15 boys and their families visited the Yellow River Game Ranch today, fulfilling requirements for each Scouting level.

The boys all did wonderfully, being so kind to the animals and to each other. I'm so proud of everyone, I saw at least 4 boys picking up trash and placing it in trashcans without being prompted by an adult. That's true Cub Scout Spirit!

Also, welcome to the two new boys who joined our Pack today - I hope everyone had fun. We look forward to seeing you all next Sunday at our Den Meeting.
And here is the deer trying to eat my camera! (Good thing she didn't try to nibble on one of our Scouts!) ;)

~Ms. Chris

Webelos Woods

I want to congratulate our Webelos boys who went to Webelos Woods. They had a blast! We participated in several events and the boys learned to work as a team. They were also able to do things that they will be able to do as Boy Scouts, but aren't able to as Cubs. With events like a pancake cook-off, orienteering, string burn, match strike, and stretcher relay, there was lots to do! So for those younger boys who didn't get to go this year, you have a lot of fun to look forward to when you get there.

Pack Meeting Relocated

The September pack meeting has been relocated to the Berrier Building, due to a conflict in location with the church. Unless otherwise noted, all pack meetings are in Pollard Hall at the church. The Berrier building is the gym to the side of the church. Please be aware that there will be a large gathering already occurring this Sunday. If at all possible, car pool or park elsewhere and walk.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but this was beyond our control. Remember, it's all about the boys!

Don't forget!

Meetings start Sept.7th! Parents are required to attend the first two den meetings of the year (both in Sept). Boys are required to wear close-toed shoes, when in doubt, just wear sneakers! We hope to see everyone there.

Congratulations to Mrs. Joy!

We had 3 boys total from our pack out at Camp Rainey Mountain for Fun with Son. The theme for the evening's camp fire was a luau. Mrs. Joy took home the trophy for best hula dance. From what I hear, all three boys had as much (if not more) fun than Mrs. Joy. If you get a chance to attend the one later this month, I highly recommend it!

Lilburn Day Camp

Well, Lilburn Day Camp has wrapped up again for the year. I want to thank the Webelos II for having me as their patrol leader and being as good of a group as I could ask for. We had our challenges (20 of us all together), but we had a lot of fun too. I know my boys in the Webelos I patrol from our pack had fun and from what I could see of the Tigers and Wolves, they had fun as well. We had Mrs. Amy as a Wolf den leader out there with me too.

Some of our activities included leather working, soap carving for the older boys, paper airplane making, marshmallow shooters, first aid demonstrations, BBs, archery, soccer, ultimate and a lot more. Not to mention Water Wednesday where the boys got to bring their water guns, there was a water slide and a water balloon toss. At the end, each den performed a skit for parents and fellow scouts. Here are some of the photos I got to take on water day and of skits.

Pack Camping Trip

We had a blast! Thanks to Queen Amy for scheduling our activities and to King Dan for everything you do. We had a Royal Armory for putting together our lances, a Royal Seamstress to help us with our tunics, a Royal Wizard for assembling our own magic sticks and a Royal ArmsMaster to demonstrate our trebuchet.

There was a jousting course to demonstrate team work and skill, catch the dragon and ice cream making by the Wizard Dan. All of the kids were able to assist in the Royal Kitchen for dinner. In our off time we had the opportunity to fish and explore.

A very good time was had by all.

End of Year

With the end of the school year winding up, Cub Scouts is still going! At our May pack meeting, this years boys will be crossing over to their new rank. All of our Tigers will be Wolves, Wolves will be Bears, Bears become Webelos I and our Webelos I boys will be Webelos IIs. They can begin working on their new ranks as soon as they've crossed over.

Our boys who go to day or twilight camp will get a jump start on the new year and have a lot of fun in the process. There may even be some activities (wait and see) for the new ranks to work on with the pack! We're hoping to put together a God and Me class for the Webelos scouts as well.

Just because the school year is wrapping up, don't forget scouting! Keep an eye on our web site and the blog for cool summer activities.

Scout Blast

Well, Scout Blast has come and gone. The boys that attended the blast itself had a lot of fun. Many thanks to the boys who came and worked at our booth. All of the scouts who dropped by to visit loved our craft. We even had boys bringing their buddies by!

No one from our pack won awards at the district race, but that's ok! They all did very well getting there in the first place. Congratulations to the boys who participated in both speed and show.

See everyone Sunday at our next pack meeting!

Scout Blast

Hello all!

Well, the time has come for another Scout Blast. This is a very fun and exciting event. This is the time to showcase your Pack and visit other Packs and Troops. Pack 100 will have a booth so please come by and say Hi!

The cards are on sale for $10.00. This will be for entrance onto the fairgrounds. This card has many coupons on them for local businesses. These deals are worth more than the price of the card. If your son has been invited to participate in the District Pinewood Derby you will need a ticket to cheer him on. Buy tickets for family and friends too! I encourage you to sell as many as you can. District has a prize list for the boys for selling Blast Cards. I will have a copy of the prize list and cards available at the March 30th Pack Meeting.

I would like to advise you to pre-order your tickets. The tickets have to be paid for upfront since the money or remaining tickets have to turned in to district. The boys will receive a patch for attending.

So please respond to this email with a total number of cards you would like to buy and I will have them set aside for you at the Mar 30th meeting. Otherwise, I will have them available for purchase that day.

Please come out and represent Pack 100. This a great opportunity to represent Pack 100, wear your Pack T-Shirt. If you don't have one, please email me your size if you would like to purchase one.

Truley Yours in Scouting!

Gwinnett Gladiators

A group of our boys went to a Gwinnett Gladiators game last night. The boys that attended seemed to have a very good time. We even had a Welcome Cub Scout Pack 100 message put up on the overhead display. Woo Hoo! I took a couple of photos with my camera on my phone. I apologize for the quality.

Picture Page

Has been updated again. It uses a flash player to run a slide show of our photos. Enjoy!

Scouting for Food

During the month of February, our Pack collected food for the Lilburn Co-op. We collected 382 much needed items! Two of our Scouts then dropped them off Monday, February 25th. The volunteers were grateful for the donations. They showed us the room where the food is kept, and the overflow room. Even with all that food, however, the volunteers said they would go through it before Easter. Thanks to all the Scouts who participated - you've truly done a Good Turn for your neighbors.

Blue & Gold Banquet

What a great evening we had last night! I was so proud of all the boys and their awards and advancements earned! The Scout Sunday patch was beautiful! And did anyone get to see the $1,000,000 Dragon Bill that two of our Webelos earned? They are really cool! They earned that award through the uniform inspections and attendance to pack meetings and events.
There were so many adults helping, and I appreciate each of you so much! We are a volunteer organization and I'm so glad there are many hands pitching in to help make the work light.
Ashley did a great job with the pictures! Did you know we can buy one of those for $4?! I'm getting one - I was too busy to sit and watch it!
We'll be missing the Webelos II next week, and that moves my den into the spot of highest rank. We are already talking about OUR Crossover!
Congratulation Bart, Kortni and Daniel! We're proud of our new Boy Scouts and wish you well!

Flag Retirement Ceremony

Jordan and Robert (Bears) and Sebastien (Wolf) participated in the Boy Scout Flag Retirement Ceremony today at the Church. They were able to find out about the procedure for properly burning a flag and the solemnity of the occasion. They were also able to ask questions from the Scouts about the ceremony. Thank you boys for attending.

    Weekend with the Webelos I

Some of my den was over this weekend and we had fun! The boys made 2 kinds of crystals - sugar that they can eat, as well as one out of bluing and ammonia. They also used a wood burning tool for the first time (thank goodness no one got burned!) and leather tooling tools. They played, ate, slept, worked, ate some more, played some more. I think they had a good time.

We are all looking forward to the Yorktown trip next weekend, and the Pinewood Derby the following week. Work hard on your cars boys!
